We got home lastnight around 8 p.m., ate dinner, showered and went to bed. Almost immediately.
My cat hated me for leaving him, D said that all day Tuesday he walked around the house meowing and doing his sad little "bark" looking for me...I know, right? Totally adorable huh? When we got home lastnight he glared at me silently from behind his kitty condo to punish me for leaving him, but after 10 or 15 minutes he either decided I'd been sufficiently punished or he couldn't stand it any longer, and he jumped up in my lap and fell asleep.
I was awakened around 3:00 a.m. when I rolled over and my foot kicked something at the foot of my bed. I heard a "hmpgh!" and realized, "OH CRAP! I kicked H." Yeah. She had crawled into bed with me and was curled up at the end of my bed like a puppy. I didn't realize this and chopped her right in the forehead. She crawled up next to me and said, "It's ok Mom, I forgive you for kicking me." NICE!
When we got up I made us bacon and eggs for breakfast (Did I mention that D is out of town? Yeah. We haven't seen him since Monday morning.) and we relaxed for a few hours before we went out to run some errands. As we were leaving the house, my key got stuck in the lock and bent a little bit when I pulled it out. So we went out and were gone for about 3 hours. Came home in the rain and tried to open my door. Stuck. Wouldn't unlock. I assumed it was the bent key that was keeping it from working so I dragged H back outside into the rain, with all the stuff we had purchased...got in the car and drove to a lock and key place...which was closed for 20 minutes. We sit in the rain and wait...and wait...and wait. I get the new key and we rush home (did I mention we had ice cream in the car? It was melting f.a.s.t.)...still wouldn't unlock the door. Something is definetly hinky with the lock now.
Just when I was resigned to the fact we'd have to drive across town (again) in the rain with ice cream melting in my trunk and beg my parents to let us sleep on their couch tonight, I noticed that my bedroom window was open. I pried the screen off and was about to climb through the window when I decided that job was best left to the smallish child in my company. She climbed through and opened the door.
As we were bringing in our bags she said, "Mom? That made me really uncomfortable. Please don't lock us out again."
